Mortality is a statistical life expectancy calculator. This policy explains, in plain terms, what happens to the information you provide and what third parties are involved. The short version: everything you type stays in your browser.
Your birth year, sex, and lifestyle answers are used only by code running in your own browser to compute an estimate. They are never transmitted to us, never stored on a server, and disappear the moment you close or refresh the page.
Information you enter
The calculator asks for your sex at birth, birth year, and a set of lifestyle factors (smoking, exercise, diet, sleep, stress, alcohol, body weight, social connection, and whether you have a chronic condition). This information is processed entirely on your device to produce your estimate. It is not sent over the network, is not saved between visits, and we never receive or see it.
Information stored on your device
The only thing this site saves is your light or dark theme preference, kept in your browser's local storage so the page remembers your choice on your next visit. It contains no personal information and never leaves your device. You can clear it at any time through your browser settings.
Advertising and third parties
This site displays advertising through Google AdSense. To serve ads, Google and its partners may set cookies and collect data such as your IP address, device and browser information, and interactions with ads. This processing is governed by Google's own policies, not ours. You can review and adjust how Google uses this data at Google Ads & privacy and manage personalized advertising at My Ad Center.
We do not run our own analytics and do not sell or share any personal information, because we do not collect any to begin with.
Hosting
The site is hosted on Netlify. As with any web host, Netlify may automatically log basic technical request data (such as IP addresses) for security and reliability purposes. This handling is covered by Netlify's privacy policy.
Children
This site is intended for a general adult audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
Your choices
Because we store nothing about you, there is no account to delete and no personal data for us to access or export. To limit advertising cookies, use the Google links above or your browser's cookie and tracking-protection controls.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the site evolves. When we do, we will revise the "last updated" date at the top of this page.
